The article explores some characteristics of the institutional culture of the Chilean Judiciary to understand how they influence discriminatory treatment against women, both officials and users. To do so, the presence and impact of gender stereotypes in the unequal treatment of women is analysed in two spaces: the internal one, corresponding to women officials; and the external one, related to women users. Through a qualitative approach, which used interviews and focus groups, various gender stereotypes were evidenced. The study reveals the presence of a sexist and patriarchal culture within this branch of the State, which would be the basis of discriminatory practices that affect the work experience of women officials and the access to justice of users of the Chilean Judiciary.El artículo explora algunas características de la cultura institucional del Poder Judicial chileno con el fin de comprender cómo ellas influyen en un trato discriminatorio contra las mujeres, tanto funcionarias como usuarias. Para ello, se analiza la presencia y el impacto de los estereotipos de género en el trato desigual hacia las mujeres en dos espacios: el interno, correspondiente a mujeres funcionarias; y el externo, relacionado con las mujeres usuarias. Mediante un enfoque cualitativo, que recurrió a entrevistas y grupos focales, se evidenciaron diversos estereotipos de género. El estudio revela la presencia de una cultura sexista y patriarcal al interior de este poder del Estado, que sería la base de prácticas discriminatorias que afectan la experiencia laboral de mujeres funcionarias y el acceso a la justicia de usuarias del Poder Judicial chileno.
