dc.descriptionThe aim of the work was to address a particular form of exile of the Chilean community to Mendoza lands (Argentina). Specifically, we are referring to the cordilleran pedestrian crossing along the rails of the Trasandino Railway of a group of Chileans who left their homeland after the sanction of Law 8987 that outlawed the Communist Party in Chile in 1948. To achieve this, two lines of research were used: the study of the Trasandino Railway and its role in pedestrian mobility through its rails and studies on exile as a transnational phenomenon. Primary and secondary sources were explored and analyzed; and an in-depth interview was conducted with a key informant. The study allowed the reconstruction of the causes of the Chilean exile in Mendoza, the journey along the Trasandino rails and aspects linked to the host land. This research opens new questions about unworked exile experiences and the heritage value of the railway as a socio-cultural resource.en-US
dc.descriptionEl objetivo del trabajo fue abordar una forma particular de salida al exilio de parte de la comunidad chilena a tierras mendocinas (Argentina). De manera específica, nos referimos al cruce peatonal cordillerano por los rieles del Ferrocarril Trasandino de un grupo de chilenos que dejó su patria a partir de la sanción de la Ley 8987 que proscribió al Partido Comunista en Chile en 1948. Para ello, se apeló a dos líneas de investigación: el estudio del Ferrocarril Trasandino y su rol en la movilidad peatonal a través de sus rieles y los estudios en torno al exilio en tanto fenómeno transnacional. Se exploraron y analizaron fuentes primarias y secundarias; y se realizó una entrevista en profundidad a un informante clave. El estudio permitió la reconstrucción de las causas del exilio chileno en Mendoza, el periplo por los rieles del Trasandino y aspectos vinculados a la tierra de acogida. Esta investigación abre nuevas preguntas en torno a experiencias exiliares no trabajadas y sobre el valor patrimonial del ferrocarril como recurso socio cultural.es-ES
