The articles in this special issue of the Boletín de Filología (Universidad de Chile) aim to contribute to the national debate on the state and projections of multilingualism in Chile, to foster discussions, research, and public policy aimed at promoting social inclusion, cultural identity, and sociolinguistic diversity in the country. The articles are the result of the collaborative work carried out by an intercultural team of linguists who are experts in the subject at hand, within the framework of the FOVI230232 project (20232025, ANID), which aimed to create the Interdisciplinary Network of Researchers LanPol (that is, Language Policies) between regional institutions in Chile and international institutions. This network aims to contribute up-to-date knowledge about different multilingual contexts, the language policies implemented and planned within them, and their implications for the sustainable development of citizens and linguistic communities in Chile. This issue, then, falls within the scope of Latin American linguistic studies by condensing a series of updated studies on multilingualism in Chile, as well as international studies that, based on their experience, contribute to the discussion on the current and future of multilingualism and multiculturalism in Chile.Los artículos de este número monográfico del Boletín de Filología (Universidad de Chile) tienen por objetivo aportar al debate nacional sobre el estado y las proyecciones del multilingüismo en Chile, de modo de fomentar discusiones, investigación y políticas públicas orientadas a promover la inclusión social, la identidad cultural y la diversidad sociolingüística del país. Los artículos se desprenden del trabajo colaborativo realizado por un equipo intercultural de lingüistas expertos en el tema que nos convoca, en el marco del proyecto FOVI230232 (2023-2025, ANID) que tuvo el propósito de crear la Red Interdisciplinaria de Investigadores LanPol (por su sigla en inglés, Language Policies) entre instituciones regionales de Chile e instituciones internacionales, para contribuir conocimiento actualizado acerca de los diferentes contextos multilingües, las políticas lingüísticas que se ejecutan y proyectan en ellos, y sus implicaciones para el desarrollo sostenible de los ciudadanos y las comunidades lingüísticas en Chile. El presente número entonces se enmarca en el ámbito de los estudios lingüísticos latinoamericanos al condensar una serie de estudios actualizados sobre el multilingüismo en Chile, así como también de estudios internacionales que, desde su experiencia, contribuyen a la discusión sobre la actualidad y el futuro del multilingüismo y la multiculturalidad en Chile.
