In this article there is an analysis of the notion decline of the function Name-of-Father, there is two positions that have been assumed to this problematics, basis on the texts "Totem and Taboo " and " Discomfort in the culture " from Freud a third alternative is suggested.    En este artículo se realiza un análisis de la noción de declinación de la función del Nombre-del-Padre, presentándose dos posiciones que se han asumido frente a esta problemática y a partir de un retorno a Freud en base a los textos “Tótem y Tabú” y “Malestar en la cultura” se sugiere una tercera alternativa.
