The author presents the concept of "Dignity Line" as the framework that focuses discussions on social and environmental sustainability between civil society of the North and South, seeking to reconcile the objectives of environmental sustainability with the distributional goals of social equity and participatory democracy. The author traces the history of the concept and then follows the conceptual work of the Southern Cone Program, eventually postulating the need for the ethical dimension that demands building North-South sustainability. La autora presenta el concepto de “Línea de Dignidad” como el marco que focaliza las discusiones sobre sustentabilidad socioambiental entre la sociedad civil del Norte y del Sur, buscando conciliar los objetivos de la sustentabilidad ambiental con los objetivos distributivos de la equidad social y la democracia participativa. La autora traza la historia del concepto y sigue luego el trabajo conceptual del Programa Cono Sur, postulando finalmente la necesidad de la dimensión ética que exige construir sustentabilidad Norte-Sur.
