dc.descriptionOld age is a period in a person's life that a great number of people experiment. Even though old age is not a disease, the risks of becoming ill or losing autonomy and functionality increase. Taking this into consideration it is necessary to be careful, traditionally the family assumed this task. The conditions that require most care are the physical, mental, chronic progressive ailments and critical short-term episodes. In the eigth region, two investigations have been done with the support of the "Dirección de Investigación de la Universidad de Concepción", that have allowed, in part, to know the reality of those who care for these groups.   es-ES
