dc.descriptionThe story of the Chilean Judicature, spanning just over four centuries, has been widely studied by historians and public law specialist as well. But often it has been  examined from a narrow perspective, dividing it into periods which not allow to fully  appreciate certain fundamental points, such as the institutional continuity between the Real Audiencia and the Corte de Apelaciones of Santiago, the lawyer culture, or  the role played by judges and prosecutors of the Supreme Court to form the core leadership of the country in the nineteenth century. Regarding the latter, the volume of available literature is large in number and in information provided which, sorted and fi led by prosopographies allows not only complement existing studies on the Judicature but also open new lines of research. In this paper a point of capital importance will be exposed, regarding the lives of the jusges and prosecutors of the Supreme Court in the XIX century: their university studies.en-US
dc.descriptionLa historia de la Judicatura chilena, que abarca poco más de cuatro siglos, ha sido ya ampliamente estudiada, tanto por historiadores del Derecho como por iuspublicistas. Pero a menudo se le ha examinado desde una perspectiva parcelada, dividiéndola en periodos que no permiten apreciar cabalmente ciertos puntos fundamentales, como la continuidad institucional entre la Real Audiencia y la Corte de Apelaciones de Santiago, la cultura de abogados, o el papel que desempeñaron los ministros y fiscales de la Corte Suprema al conformar el núcleo dirigente del país en el siglo XIX. Sobre esto último, el volumen de la bibliografía disponible es amplio tanto en número como en información entregada, la que al ser ordenada y presentada mediante prosopografías permite no solamente complementar los estudios existentes sobre la Judicatura sino que además abrir nuevas líneas de investigación. En el presente artículo se expondrá un punto de importancia capital en la vida de los ministros y fi scales de la Corte Suprema en el siglo XIX: su formación universitaria.es-ES
