La estatalización del Nuevo Mundo es en gran parte desconocida. Precede en varios siglos a la Independencia de América hispana, y guarda analogía con la Europa danu-biana y sus dos etapas, el Estado jurisdiccional y el Estado administrativo. Al respecto, cabe distinguir dos épocas: la flexibilidad de la constitución indiscutida (1511-1811) y el drama de las doscientas constituciones de papel (1811 en adelante). Impuestas desde arriba, estas últimas frenan la modernización y diluyen a los pueblos en un electorado anónimo, como el Ogro filantrópico, descrito por Octavio Paz.The nationalization of the New World is largely unknown.
