| dc.description | Chiloé’s traditional culture is extraordinarily rich in ritual. This is expressed in religious celebrations, popular festivities, the minga2-a specific kind of collective work that brings together the community- with its associated feasting and festivity, ceremonial processions and burials. This text is specifically concerned with these latter two activities, seeking to emphasise the roots and significance of the religious procession a nd t he c entral r ole p layed b y t he funeral ceremony and burial in Chiloé’s culture. The unique characteristics of place, architecture and imagery displayed by both these rites have contributed to the region’s cultural, urban and architectural identity. | en-US |
| dc.description | La cultura tradicional de Chiloé es una cultura extraordinariamente ritual. Este se encuentra presente en celebraciones religiosas, en fiestas populares, en la minga, particular trabajo colectivo que reúne y encuentra a la comunidad, la comida y la fiesta asociada a la minga, en la procesión ceremonial y en el entierro. A estos dos últimos temas se refiere el presente texto, destinado a destacar la importancia y proveniencia de la procesión religiosa así como el espacio central que ocupa en la cultura chilota la ceremonia fúnebre y el entierro. A ambos ritos les corresponde un lugar, una arquitectura y una imaginería con características propias que han aportado a la identidad cultural, urbana y arquitectónica de este territorio. | es-ES |
