| dc.description | How can one write about images in which the beginning (creation) and end (finished work) are related to personal experiences of a catastrophe? How can one translate the body of work of the biography of our society? How can one write about the images of a catastrophe in such a way as to portray the enormous consequences they hold for cultural studies based as they are on such difficult to pin down notions as biography, social body, memory and disaster? Such questions relate to two kinds of approach, one based on authorial work and the other as a means of building a sense of identity. These are the questions and objective of this text in which identity, memory, experience and representation are relevant signs in laying the foundations of the body of artwork. Equally, works of art created in extreme circumstances during or following a catastrophe, disaster or dictatorship, for example, are built up from the margin and/or periphery, amongst minorities even - a concept related to the notion of gender (Judith Butler); the work of art, in this case photography, is the biographical, political and social body. The concept of autobiography arises as a central element in this article. Each image, every word are memories and confessions of the authors, including the author of this article who herself experienced the shock provoked by this situation and subsequently received the experiences converted into art (through the photographs that prompted this collection) of those who suffered fear and loss. These emotions are the construction of a place, a moment; they create a visual map of that which is no longer there. And it is this very absence that is essential to understanding the images and sensing, through the text, the silence that follows the catastrophe. | dc.description | ¿Cómo escribir sobre imágenes en la cuales el comienzo (creación) y el final (obra) están relacionados con experiencias personales de una catástrofe? ¿Cómo se traduce el cuerpo de la obra en la biografía de una sociedad? ¿Cómo hacer que a partir de la escritura sobre imágenes que retratan una conmoción se nos devele la enorme cantidad de derivas para los estudios culturales a propósito de nociones tan escurridizas como biografía, cuerpo social, memoria, desastre? Tales preguntas están relacionadas con dos formas de obras, una autoral y otra como medio de construcción de una identidad. Y, entre otras, éstas son las preguntas y el objetivo del presente texto en el cual identidad, memoria, experiencia y representación son signos relevantes en la cimentación del cuerpo de obra. Al mismo tiempo, las obras que se crean en situaciones extremas durante o después de catástrofes, desgracias, dictaduras, son construidas desde los márgenes y/o periferias, incluso de las minorías, y este concepto está relacionado con la noción de género. La obra, en este caso la fotografía, es el cuerpo biográfico, político y social. El concepto de autobiografía surge como elemento central en este artículo. Cada imagen, cada palabra son las memorias y confesiones de autores, donde se incluye la autora de este artículo en un doble rol de observador que experimenta la conmoción que provocó esta creación y, también, como sujeto que recibe la experiencia convertida en obra (las fotografías que originaron esta Muestra) de aquellos que experimentaron pérdidas y miedos. Estas emociones son la construcción de un lugar, de un momento, creando un mapa visual de lo que ya no está. Y esa ausencia es esencial para comprender las imágenes y para dar cuenta en el texto de ese silencio tras la catástrofe. ¿Se puede escribir o fotografiar ese silencio? | es-ES |
