Resumen: Este trabajo indaga en las ideologías lingüísticas plasmadas en las obras de los frailes capuchinos alemanes que misionaron en el territorio mapuche desde 1895. A partir de una selección de enunciados expresados en sus obras, damos cuenta de la representación que construyeron de la lengua mapuche y su sociedad durante el período de castellanización formal del territorio y la consolidación del Estado-Nación en la región. Se sostiene que la trayectoria del mapuzugun se ha definido por campañas de estigmatización a través de la exportación y apropiación de dogmas eurocéntricos dominantes propios de la época, los cuales se han proyectado hasta la actualidad. Se concluye que el discurso de los misioneros capuchinos se enmarca en el pensamiento de las lenguas en peligro a través del discurso de la desaparición de la lengua y la cultura. Abstract: This work investigates the linguistic ideologies embodied in the works of the Capuchin German monks who missioned in the Mapuche territory since 1895. From a selection of statements expressed in their works, we realize the representation that they constructed of the Mapuche language and its Society during the period of formal castellanización of the territory and the consolidation of the Nation-State in the region. It is maintained that the trajectory of the mapudungun has been defined by campaigns of stigmatization through the export and appropriation of dominant Eurocentric dogmas of the time, which have been projected up to the present. It is concluded that the discourse of the Capuchin missionaries is framed in the thinking of languages in danger through the discourse of the disappearance of language and culture.
