| dc.description | RESUMEN: El presente trabajo describe las causas y efectos del retroceso de los glaciares en la península Antártida Chilena. Los objetivos específicos, son identificar las principales causas que afectan la evolución de los glaciares en la Antártida; describir las consecuencias más relevantes en el retroceso de los hielos antárticos; y relacionar los efectos en la biodiversidad del ecosistema marino a raíz del retroceso de los glaciares. Para la investigación descriptiva, se realizó un levantamiento de información basado principalmente en fuentes secundarias de documentos publicados en internet y datos obtenidos de instituciones relevantes. Ellos fueron seleccionados y ordenados según su importancia. De las conclusiones obtenidas, se desprende que la causa principal del retroceso de los glaciares es el aumento de la temperatura global, debiéndose al efecto invernadero, el cual es principalmente influenciado por la quema de combustibles fósiles. Lo anterior acarrea implicancias en el aumento del nivel de los océanos, inundaciones, olas de calor, entre otras. Así, es alterado el fondo marino en el tipo y número de criaturas marinas, y el cambio en la distribución de especies claves que habitan en las profundidades de los océanos. ABSTRACT: This paper describes the causes and effects of receding glaciers in the Chilean Antarctic Peninsula. The specific objectives are to identify the main causes affecting the evolution of glaciers in Antarctica, to describe the most relevant consequences in the retreat of Antarctic ice, and relate the effects on biodiversity of the marine ecosystem as a result of glacial retreat. For descriptive research was conducted to gather information based mainly on secondary sources published online documents and data obtained from relevant institutions. They were selected and sorted by relevance. In the conclusions, it appears that the main cause of glacial retreat is the global temperature increase, being due to the greenhouse effect, which is mainly influenced by the burning of fossil fuels. This carries implications for the increase in sea levels, floods, heat waves, among others. Thus, it altered the seabed in the type and number of marine creatures, and the change in the distribution of key species that inhabit the ocean depths. | es-ES |
