La investigación y su divulgación son fundamentales para el avance de las ciencias. Por ello, contribuir a la difusión de los trabajos de investigación en Gestión Ambiental y Turismo ha sido el principal objetivo de la Revista Interamericana de Ambiente y Turismo – RIAT–, lo que constituye unimportante desafío. Especialmente, en un contexto cada vez más competitivo donde la producción académica estácreciendo considerablemente en el mundo.En consecuencia, se hace necesario propender a mejorar la calidad de las publicaciones científicas. Y es precisamente el aspecto de calidad el que ha guiado el desarrollo de la RIAT. Es así, como el esfuerzo de los investigadores, los evaluadores y el equipo editorial de la Revista se está reflejando en su incorporación al catálogo SciELO (Biblioteca Científica Electrónica en Línea). Por lo tanto, el futuro de la revista se enmarca en seguir aumentando la calidad por medio del aumento de la rigurosidaden los contenidos y forma de presentación de los artículos, enfatizando en los aportes relevantes al desarrollo disciplinar de la Gestión Ambiental y el Turismo, velando por que tengan un potencial impacto real en las comunidades que podrían beneficiarse de los resultados de investigación, y la diversificación de autores y zonas geográficas. Lo cual no es una tarea fácil y que requiere del apoyo institucional permanente para el financiamiento de la investigación, su comunicación y divulgación. This is not an easy task and requires permanent institutional support for research funding, communication and dissemination. So the evolution of this editorial project depends on the efforts of all.
