The present article, identifies, describes and analyzes the medical discourse of the decade of 1960 in Chile, and the subject of illegally induced abortions, the consequences for women’s health and the hospital system. These elements are highlighted in the representation of the woman who aborts and is emphasized in the description that the medical community make about the national context to implement family planning programs with international cooperation.El presente artículo identifica, describe y analiza los discursos médicos de la década de 1960 en Chile que versan sobre el aborto provocado ilegal, sus consecuencias en la salud de la mujer y en el sistema hospitalario. Se resaltan los elementos presentes en las representaciones acerca de la mujer que aborta y se enfatiza en la descripción que hace la comunidad médica sobre el contexto nacional para implementar programas de planificación familiar con cooperación internacional.
