The article analyzes the notions about the ends of the Chilean civil process, to then criticize them, holding that they do not satisfy the current mandates of International Fundamental Rights. At the same time, a critique is made to the current chilean civil process, exposing its deficits, to then remark that it maintains nineteenth-century social structures, being the civil process a tool for its prevalence. Finally, a proposal of redefinition of the ends of civil justice is done on the basis of certain cultural and social considerations that underlie the reality of the process.El artículo analiza las nociones sobre los fines del proceso civil chileno, para luego criticarlas, sosteniendo que no satisfacen los actuales mandatos de derechos fundamentales internacionales. A su vez, hace una crítica al actual proceso civil chileno, exponiendo su déficit, para luego comentar que este mantiene ciertas estructuras sociales decimonónicas, siendo el proceso civil una herramienta para su prevalencia. Finalmente, se hace una propuesta de redefinición de los fines de la justicia civil sobre la base de ciertas consideraciones culturales y sociales que subyacen en la realidad del proceso.
