Los recientes estudios sobre las economías e independencias hispanoamericanas han devuelto al tema el interés que perdieron sus antecesores, cuestionados por las corrientes en boga en las últimas décadas, que discuten los enfoques generalistas y teleológicos de la Historia, las explicaciones económicas y el papel de las revoluciones en los cambios, así como por defectos en su formulación. Habían buscado en el origen de los países y su herencia colonial determinantes de sus dificultades ulteriores de desigualdades y atraso. Los nuevos trabajos priorizan analizar los procesos económicos que estaban ocurriendo en tiempo de la emancipación, la interacción de ambos sucesos con multiplicidad de métodos y enfoques, la diversidad de actores participantes y las variaciones regionales y locales, y han generado acervo de conocimiento muy interesante pero aún insuficiente y fragmentado, que precisa síntesis y balances, como se propone en este artículo.The recent studies on Spanish American economics and independences have returned to the topic interest and centrality in the debates, lost by its predecessors, questioned by the current trend in the last decades, which discusses generalist and teleological approaches, the role of the revolutions in the changes and the economics explanations of the History, and by defects in their formulations; they had sough in the countries origin and colonial heritage determinants of its lather difficulties of backwardness and inequities. The new studies prioritizes the exploration of the economic processes that were occurring in the time of independences, their interaction and regional and local variations, and it has generated a wealth of knowledge, still insufficient and fragmented, which requires synthesis and balance sheets, as proposed this article.
