This article analyzes the application of the technique and craft skills necessary for the manufacture of weapons during the first two years of the insurgent movement in New Spain. In this first stage the insurgents in different latitudes rushed to melt all metallic material of the daily life that they found in their step to satisfy the new conditions of war, from bells of churches to pots and pans, with the only objective to compose their First bronze guns thanks to the help of characters who had previously had access to the war culture, and even, due to the lack of necessary supplies began to develop curious artillery devices in wood. The central argument of this text is that in war technology is catalyzing itself. Approach that shows a recent line of investigation that enriches the historiography about the independence of Mexico.Este artículo analiza la aplicación de la técnica y los saberes artesanales necesarios para la fabricación de armamento durante los dos primeros años del movimiento insurgente en la Nueva España. En esta primera etapa, los insurrectos en diferentes latitudes se apresuraron a fundir todo material metálico de la vida cotidiana que encontraron a su paso para satisfacer las nuevas condiciones de guerra, desde campanas de iglesias hasta ollas y cazuelas, con el único objetivo de componer sus primeros cañones de bronce gracias la ayuda de personajes que anteriormente habían tenido acceso a la cultura bélica, e incluso, ante la falta de insumos necesarios empezaron a desarrollar curiosos ingenios artilleros en madera. El argumento central de este texto es que en la guerra, la tecnología se cataliza a sí misma. Enfoque que muestra una reciente línea de investigación que enriquece la historiografía sobre la independencia de México.
