Aníbal Pinto's work provides an excellent basis for examining some of the changes that have taken place in economic and political relations between Latin America and the United States in recent years, to try to find an interpretation of them, and to scrutinize in future prospects. This constitutes an obvious reality, as Pinto shows: that the North American approaches to these relationships have been undergoing very significant changes. Although unfortunately the work we are commenting on does not examine the other side of the medal –the attitudes of Latin Americans in relation to their hegemonic power–, it is well known that here too there have been changes of the greatest importance.El trabajo de Aníbal Pinto constituye una excelente base para examinar algunos de los cambios que han tenido lugar en las relaciones económicas y políticas entre América Latina y los Estados Unidos en los últimos años, para tratar de buscar una interpretación de los mismos y para escudriñar en las perspectivas futuras. Esto constituye una realidad evidente, según lo demuestra Pinto: que los enfoques norteamericanos sobre estas relaciones vienen experimentando cambios muy significativos. Aunque lamentablemente el trabajo que comentamos no examina el otro lado de la medalla –las actitudes de los latinoamericanos en relación con su potencia hegemónica–, es de sobra conocido que aquí también ha habido cambios de la mayor importancia.
