Various stages and initiatives have characterized the physical integration processes between Chile and Argentina, showing a sustained tendency to clearly debate its foundations and scope, since the 1984 Treaty of Peace and Friendship. The adaptation of objectives and instruments, as well as the determination of clear priorities, it is strengthened by the agreements that led to the association of Chile with MERCOSUR in 1996. Important areas of potential common interest - such as investments in infrastructure, mining, lakes and shared water resources - are topics on an agenda that is currently developing and that requires a clear and stable political scenario.Diversas etapas e iniciativas han caracterizado los procesos de integración física entre Chile y Argentina, mostrando una tendencia sostenida a debatir con claridad sus fundamentos y alcances, desde el Tratado de Paz y Amistad de 1984. La adaptación de objetivos e instrumentos, así como la determinación de prioridades claras, se ve fortalecida por los acuerdos que condujeron a la asociación de Chile con MERCOSUR en 1996. Importantes áreas de potencial interés común –como inversiones en infraestructura, la minería, lagos y recursos hídricos compartidos– constituyen temas de una agenda que está en construcción y que requiere de un escenario político claro y estable.
