It is very difficult to make an evaluation of the changes that may have occurred in Latin America's bargaining power vis-à-vis the rest of the world. Reference is made here to events that have occurred in the international economy and have modified the region's "negotiating capacity", as well as the way it is inserted in the world. For this, the work is divided into a first section destined to review what has been the evolution of the Latin American economies and the way in which the way of thinking about the development process has been modified. Then the most important events, from a negotiation perspective, that have taken place are presented. At the end, a balance is made of the elements that should be considered to analyze the degree of regional autonomy in its global insertion.Es muy difícil hacer un balance de los cambios que se pueden haber producido en el poder de negociación de América Latina frente al resto del mundo. Acá se hace referencia a hechos que en el ámbito de la economía internacional se han producido y han modificado la "capacidad de negociación" de la región, así como la forma en que esta se inserta en el mundo. Para ello, se divide el trabajo una primera sección destinada a revisar lo que ha sido la evolución de las economías latinoamericanas y la forma en que el modo de pensar el proceso de desarrollo se ha ido modificando. Luego se presentan los hechos más importantes, desde la perspectiva de negociación, que han tenido lugar. Al final se hace un balance de los elementos que debieran considerarse para analizar el grado de autonomía regional en su inserción mundial.
