These lines attempt to bring to light some of the enigmas that hitherto pertain to the narrative and dramatic cycle of Atahualpa, and more specifically, its contents concerning circulation of the “Inkarri myths”, as well as the popular reenactments in the regions of Alto Peru, to the Huillimapu, the Mapuche south. Departing from two important connections – one linguistic and the other rhetorical – we trace the language of circulation and the agencies involved in it. Furthermore, we offer an unpublished narrative variation of the capture and death of the Inca, registered in Huilliche community of Lomas de la Piedra, west of Osorno, Chile. The narrative and scenography variations alluded to, as well as the overall cycle of the Inca, are situated as contingent articulations of colonial history (of the history of the so called “Spiritual Conquest”), and at the same time as sociopolitical affirmations, Andean and Mapuche, bringing to bear dual-asymmetrical and cannibal textualities. These narratives and portrayals, simultaneously colonial and decolonial, interrupt the dichotomies traditionally accepted in the analysis of the cycle.Este textil busca acotar algunos de los enigmas que hasta hoy rodean al ciclo narrativo y dramático de Atahualpa y, especialmente, el de la circulación de los “mitos del Inkarrí” y de escenificaciones populares de la muerte del inca desde el Alto Perú al Huillimapu o sur mapuche. A partir de la identificación y puesta en juego de dos conexiones señeras –lingüística una y retórico-compositiva la otra–, trazamos la lengua de circulación y las agencias más probablemente en ello involucradas. De paso ofrecemos una variante inédita de relato huilliche de la captura y muerte de Atahualpa, recientemente registrada en la comuna de San Juan de la Costa, al oeste de Osorno. Las variantes narrativas y escenográficas aquí evocadas, así como el ciclo del inca en general, se inscribieran como articulaciones variables de la historia colonial (de la “Historia” alias “conquista espiritual”) y, a la vez, como afirmaciones sociopolíticas, andinas y reche-mapuche para el caso, en texturas ya “dual-asimétricas”, ya “caníbales”. Estas narrativas y escenificaciones, a la vez coloniales y descoloniales, interrumpen las oposiciones habitualmente convocadas en los análisis del ciclo.
