| dc.description | The aim was to describe and analyze meanings that students, peer tutors and teachers gave to university peer tutors figure. The sample was composed by 43 participants from a Chilean university. They responded to semi-structured interviews that were analyzed with Content Analysis. Although roles assigned to peer tutor’s work were varied and diverse, it is possible to understand and group them according to the existing literature in a guiding, academic, mediating and social role. Characteristics of a good peer tutor, however, seemed to be broader than what was proposed by literature, encompassing not only practical theoretical management and personal skills, but also teaching skills and had a strong relational component. Finally, no broad differences were found in narratives among the different kinds of actor. | en-US |
| dc.description | El objetivo de la presente investigación consistió en describir y analizar los significados que estudiantes, ayudantes y profesores asignan a la figura del ayudante universitario. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 43 participantes de una universidad chilena. Éstos respondieron entrevistas semiestructuradas, las cuales fueron analizadas posteriormente mediante Análisis de Contenido. A pesar de que los roles asignados al quehacer del ayudante fueron variados y diversos, es posible comprenderlos y agruparlos en concordancia con la literatura existente en un rol orientador, académico, mediador y social. Las características de un buen ayudante, sin embargo, parecieron ser más amplias que lo propuesto por la literatura, englobando no solo el manejo teórico práctico y ciertas habilidades personales, sino también las habilidades para la enseñanza y un fuerte componente relacional. Finalmente, no se encontraron mayores diferencias en los relatos entre los distintos actores. | es-ES |
