North Catholic University (UCN) promulgated its new statutes. This solemn proclamation is an opportunity to reflect on these statutes and the meaning of the Catholic University. From the UCN’s statutes and the Apostolic Constitution ‘Ex Corde Ecclesiae’, this paper wants to deepen some theological aspects of the University. A Catholic University is primary a University. The Adjective ‘Catholic’ adds not only a religious sense. It also provides a greater challenge. Above all, it helps to go back to the first meaning of the University: to be a community and to search the universal truth. The statutes are the legal framework that helps to reveal university mysticism. La Universidad Católica del Norte entregó sus nuevos Estatutos. Esta proclamación solemne de los Estatutos es la ocasión para reflexionar sobre los mismos Estatutos y sobre el sentido de la Universidad Católica. Desde los estatutos de la UCN y la Constitución apostólica ‘Ex Corde Ecclesiae’, este trabajo quiere profundizar aspectos teológicos de la Universidad. Una Universidad católica es en primer lugar Universidad. El adjetivo ‘católico’ le añade no solamente un sentido religioso. También le proporciona un desafío de mayor entrega. Sobre todo, ayuda a volver al sentido primero de la Universidad: ser una comunidad y buscar la verdad universal. Los Estatutos son el marco jurídico que ayuda a exteriorizar una mística universitaria.
