| dc.description | Este artículo es un análisis crítico de la investigación científica en Chile. En él contrastamos distintas definiciones de epistemología, el desarrollo científico y la evolución universitaria.Concluimos que la Universidad tiene una marcada orientación profesional funcional a la estrategia de industrialización. En consecuencia el ser científico es una categoría que tiene poca cabida en la conciencia nacional. Hay indicios de que el proceso de industrialización y el sistema educacional han retrasado el desarrollo especulativo y científico del país. El fomento a la investigación científica y tecnológica no será suficiente si no va acompañado de importantes reformas al sistema universitario. AbstractThis article is a critical analysis of scientific and technological research in Chile. In this we contrasted distinct definitions of epistemology, scientific development and university evolution.We found that the University in Chile has a marked professional orientation that is functional to the industrialization strategy. Consequently, the category of a scientific being has not strength in the Chilean consciousness. Furthermore, there are indications that the industrialization process and the educational system have inhibited Chile’s speculative and scientific development. The promotion of scientific and technological research will not be sufficient if is not accompanied by important university system reforms. | es-ES |
