Este artículo analiza los registros arquitectónicos, constructivos y planimétricos de dos aldeas formativas ubicados en las quebradas de Guatacondo y Tarapacá. Se propone rescatar la totalidad del espacio arquitectónico aldeano, destacando aspectos sobre diseño y planificación espacial. Se reconoce que durante el período Formativo surge el espacio aldeano o aldea, donde se establecen una serie de elementos y espacios que forman un conjunto arquitectónico especifico, esto a su vez refleja nuevas estrategias sociales en las comunidades, donde la arquitectura se convierte en un elemento central en la estructuración de las sociedades. Su estudio desde nuevas perspectivas intentará definir cómo los individuos organizan y utilizan estos volúmenes y que espacios han sido formados para crear un determinado escenario social complementando los estudios tipológicos y descriptivos ya efectuados.This article analyzes the architectonic, constructive and planimetric records of two Formative villages in the gorges of Guatacondo and Tarapacá in the Atacama Desert. The aim of the study is to recover data of the totality of the villages architectonic spaces, emphasizing on aspects of design and spatial planning. During the Formative period in Tarapacá the sprouting of the village space reflects new social strategies in these communities, where architecture and spatial planning become central elements in the structuring of these societies. This research adds a new perspective to the study of prehistoric spatial organization and complements previous typological and descriptive studies undertaken in this region to understand how social practices are influenced and defined by architecture and planning.
