| dc.description | El artículo da cuenta del proceso histórico de construcción del campo profesional de las visitadoras sociales chilenas en el mundo del trabajo, particularmente el industrial, durante las décadas de 1920 a 1950, período en el que se desarrollan, simultáneamente, la creación de las primeras Escuelas de Servicio Social en el país, en conjunto con una transformación de la regulación de la relación capital-trabajo.Se propone que las visitadoras sociales construyeron un “campo de experticia”, a través del cual definieron una identidad modernizadora, estableciendo los límites de su campo de acción profesional, el contenido de los saberes y las prácticas de intervención, para situarse como agentes públicos cuyos objetivos iniciales estaban orientados a generar una vinculación virtuosa entre trabajadores, empresarios y Estado. Así, si bien sus saberes fundamentaron prácticas de disciplinamiento que tuvieron directa relación con el control extensivo, fomentando políticas paternalistas en el espacio industrial, no sólo actuaron como un instrumento de las “elites modernizadoras”, sino que también fueron un actor protagónico en la definición de los límites y alcances de estas políticas, a través de las discusiones que realizaron en el proceso de definición de su campo profesional entre 1920 y 1950. Metodológicamente se utilizan fuentes que constituyen un testimonio directo de las discusiones protagonizadas por las visitadoras y que, además, sirvieron como mecanismo de comunicación del debate sobre el rol de las visitadoras sociales. Se analizan las publicaciones de las Escuelas de Servicio Social de la Junta de Beneficencia de Santiago y “Elvira Matte de Cruchaga”.Palabras Clave: Visitadoras Sociales –Campo de Experticia- trabajo industrial– Control Extensivo | es-ES |
| dc.description | This article provides an account of the historical process of constrution of the professional field of the Chilean social workers in the realm work, particularly in the manufacturing sector during the period 1920 to 1950. During those three decades two processes developed simultaneously: on the one hand the first schools of social work were created, on the other, there was an increasing regulatory legislation concerning the rela- tionship between capital and labour. We sustain that social workers created a “field of expertise” through which they defined a modernizing identity and established the boundaries to their field of professional action, the content of their profession as well as the in methods of social intervention. Thus they situated themselves as “public agents” whose initial objective was the creation of a “virtuous relationship” between workers, employers and the State. Thus, although their knowledge and practice sustained disciplinary practices which were instrumental to extensive control in and outside the work place, they not only acted as an instrument of the “modernising elites”, but they also were an active part in the setting up of the limits and scope the policies, which they mainly did through their debates in which they sought to define their professional profile and field. From a methodological point of view the article is based on sources which give a direct testimony of the debates held by the social workers and which also were a means of socializing such discussions. For such purposes the analysis is focused on the publications by the school of social work of the “Junta de Beneficencia de Santiago” and those published by the “Elvira Matte de Cruchaga” school.Keywords: Social visitors – Field of expertise – Industrial Work– Extensive Control. | en-US |
