| dc.description | The crisis of the transit of the XIX century to the XX generated a debate about the situation of Spain that developed in a concrete way in the so-called “Regenerationism”, an intellectual movement that sought to reflect on the causes of the negative panorama of the country. Regeneracionismo had its reflection in the subjects developed in the Zarzuela, especially in the denominated “chico gender”. This influence will be analyzed through the theme of six significant works by Gerónimo Giménez, Tomás Bretón, Manuel Fernández Caballero, Federico Chueca and Ruperto Chapí. They contain criticisms of the oligarchies and their cacique practices, denunciations of illiteracy that affected a large part of the population, an expression of discontent over the calls to fight in the Cuban war and other issues that were the center of discussion of the Regenerationist intellectuals.Keywords: Spain, Crisis of 1898, Regenerationism, Zarzuela. | en-US |
| dc.description | La crisis del tránsito del siglo XIX al XX generó un debate acerca de la situación de España, que se desarrolló de forma concreta en el denominado “Regeneracionismo”, un movimiento intelectual que se propuso reflexionar acerca de las causas del negativo panorama del país. El Regeneracionismo tuvo su reflejo en los temas desarrollados en la Zarzuela, especialmente en el denominado “género chico”. Se analizará esta influencia a través de la temática de seis significativas obras de Gerónimo Giménez, Tomás Bretón, Manuel Fernández Caballero, Federico Chueca y Ruperto Chapí. En ellas se contienen críticas a las oligarquías y sus prácticas caciquiles, denuncias del analfabetismo que afectaba a gran parte de la población, expresión del malestar por los llamamientos a filas para luchar en la guerra de Cuba y otros asuntos que fueron centro de debate de los intelectuales regeneracionistas.Palabras clave: España, crisis de 1898, Regeneracionismo, Zarzuela. | es-ES |
