| dc.description | The rise of renewal and architectural change and infrastructure that Bogota lived during the first decades of the twentieth century was determined by specific economic interests that redefined its urban structure. Specifically the east bank of the Río Arzobispo, located north of the traditional city, was for two decades example of bourgeois ownership and a new land use. This process of gentrification, framed by administrative decisions that promoted ideas such as modernization, hygiene and progress, results crucial to understand not only the dynamics of urban growth during this period, but, fundamentally, the concept of city to its citizen.Keywords: Urban history, Urban sanitization, Gentrification, Modernization. | en-US |
| dc.description | El auge de renovación y de cambio arquitectónico y de infraestructura que vivió Bogotá durante las primeras décadas del siglo XX estuvo determinado por intereses económicos específicos que redefinieron su estructura urbana. Concretamente la ribera oriental del Río Arzobispo, ubicada al norte de la ciudad tradicional, fue durante dos décadas ejemplo de apropiación burguesa y de un nuevo uso de la tierra. Este proceso de aburguesamiento o de gentrificación, enmarcado por decisiones administrativas que promovían ideas como modernización, higiene y progreso, resulta determinante para comprender no solamente las dinámicas urbanas de crecimiento durante esteperiodo, sino –fundamentalmente− el concepto de ciudad que desde entonces construirían los bogotanos.Palabras clave: Historia urbana, Higienización urbana, Gentrificación, Modernización. | es-ES |
