The Spanish referendum on NATO in 1986 has been regarded bysome as one of the last milestones of the (political and social) SpanishTransition. This event measured the strength of the supportersof “yes” and “no”. The “no” was largely supported by socialmovements, among them neighborhood associations. We proposea study of these asssocations by analyzing the position of theneighborhood movement of Valladolid. Their position was contraryto this military instrument, and much more nuanced than the positionof political parties. The long campaign that with its negativeresult (for the “no”) deeply marked the citizens’ movement.Keywords: NATO, anti-militarism, neighborhood associations,1986 referendum, PSOE.El referéndum de la OTAN en 1986 ha sido considerado por muchosautores como uno de los últimos hitos de la Transición española,si no la política, sí la social. Un acontecimiento que midió lasfuerzas de los partidarios del sí y los del no. Un no sustentado engran parte por los movimientos sociales, destacando entre ellosel movimiento asociativo vecinal. Proponemos un estudio de elloa través del análisis de la postura del movimiento vecinal vallisoletano.Una postura mayoritariamente contraria a este ente militar,pero con muchos más ricos matices que en los partidos políticos.Una campaña larga y que por su resultado contrario, marcará profundamenteal movimiento ciudadano.Palabras clave: OTAN, antimilitarismo, asociaciones de vecinos,referéndum 1986, PSOE.
