dc.descriptionThe nineteenth century witnessed the establishment of hitherto unprecedented ways of conceiving and measuring time: linear-time as imagined by the nation State. Such form of measuring time was imposed upon every indigenous and mestizo society in Chile and South America. This concept of time became in the twentieth century a techno-economic conception of history, abstract and extrinsic to life. So, in what way can the life timeline, time-life be recomposed?Twentieth century Latin American literature opened the door of an awareness that led to questioning this linear-time as given by the official polis. This crisis of linear-time allowed for recognizing life in its historical context. Moreover, it led to experiencing caring for life through love. Both indigenous and mestizo cultures and mysticism in Chile and South America are understood as life-caring, thus emerging a concept of long-lasting timelines, based on an own language, coexistence, and connection with the sacred, as well as perceiving the absence of love as the extinction of this time-life. The historiography of these cultures has a particular need for a dialogue with art and mysticism, these being the forms of knowledge that bear life care and reverence.Keywords: Time - Mysticism - Life - Love - South America – 19 th and 20 th Centuriesen-US
dc.descriptionEn el siglo XIX se instaló una forma inédita de concebir y computar el tiempo: el tiempo lineal republicano imaginado desde el Estado nacional. Esta forma estatal burguesa del tiempo se impuso al conjunto de las sociedades mayoritarias indígenas y mestizas de Chile y América del Sur. Este tiempo acabó en el siglo XX con una concepción tecno-económica de la historia, abstracta y extrínseca a la vida.¿De qué manera recomponer el tiempo de la vida, el tiempovida? La literatura latinoamericanadel siglo pasado instaló un horizonte de conciencia que cuestionó el tiempo lineal de la polis oficial. La crisis del tiempo lineal permitió un reconocimiento histórico de la vida. Más aun, abrió la experiencia del cuidado de ella a través del amor. Las culturas y las místicas indígenas y mestizas de Chile y América del Sur se entienden en este reconocimiento y en este cuidado de la vida. A partir de ellas se despliega un tiempo de larga duración sustentado en un lenguaje característico, una convivencia específica, una conexión particular con lo sagrado, una percepción de la ausencia de amor como extinción del tiempo-vida. La historiografía de estas culturas necesita particularmente el diálogo con el arte y con la mística, formas de conocimiento atentas al cuidado y reverencia por la vida.Palabras clave: Temporalidad - Mística - Amor - Vida - América del Sur - Siglos XIX-XX.es-ES
