| dc.description | This paper studies the meaning of the Atacama Puna for the Chilean and Argentinean surrounding populations and for the natural and social scientific research, as an attempt to offer this space demographic and commercial convergence dating from pre-hispanic times, and whose geological studies started during the Chilean - Argentinean border dispute for the Puna space. | dc.description | En este artículo se estudia el significado que ha tenido la Punade Atacama para las poblaciones chileno-argentinas aledañasy para las investigaciones científicas naturales como sociales,en el marco de asignar a dicho espacio una convergenciademográfico-comercial de data prehispánica y cuyo estudiogeológico surgió en tiempo de la disputa limítrofe entre Chiley Argentina por el espacio puneño.
