| dc.description | The political transformation which led Spain out of a dictatorshipand into a democratic system after the death of GeneralFranco is well known. However, most available studies focustheir attention on the main leaders and central institutions of thecountry as key players in the process while local studies of thispolitical change remain scarce. The aim of this paper is to pointout several key aspects of this transition and its implementationin the Spanish provinces. Our approach is based on the study of‘gobiernos civiles’ (civil governments) as strategic actors, whopromoted political change using the resources of the formerFrancoist State to ensure the success of their operation.Keywords: Transition, civil governments, governors, Spain, Francoism. | en-US |
| dc.description | Es bien conocido el proceso de la transición política españolaque condujo al país desde una dictadura al actual sistema democrático.La mayor parte de los estudios disponibles han centradosu atención en los principales líderes y las institucionescentrales del Estado como los focos impulsores del cambio. Sinembargo, son mucho más escasos los estudios locales acercade cómo se verificó aquel proceso de transformación. En esteartículo pretendemos desvelar algunas de las claves de dichatransformación política en las provincias.
