In the present paper an innovative solution for a structurally continuousbeam- column joint in prefabricated structure is described. It israpidly executed and very safe and has been widely used in differentconstructions for research centers, universities and others. This typeof connection is one of the distinguished features in the MultipurposeConstruction System for Cuba (SMAC System). Its behavior is based on the wedge effect and friction action developed between two inclined planes in both elements being connected. Fullscale tests are described herein and the results obtained proved theefficiency. Transmission of vertical loads as well as bending momentsthrough the joint are guaranteed. This is particularly important in framestructures since horizontal loads due to wind are very large in Cubabecause of hurricanes.en-US
