This paper presents results of the JK Bridge’s monitoring, emphasizing its importance in the guidance of the structuralmaintenance of this Brasilia’s Landmark. The Juscelino Kubitschek Bridge has a orthotropic steel deck, suspended by three steel arches, that crosses ParanoáLake, in Brasília, Brazil. Inaugurated on December 15, 2002,the Bridge has a total length of 1,200 meters, a width of 24meters and two carriageways with three lanes in eachtowards, two walkways on the sides for bicyclists andpedestrians, with 1.5 meters wide. The main span structure has four piers for supported three60m-tall steel arches, with 240m-span, that suspender thesteel decks by 48 hangers. The main plans of the archesacross the decks in diagonally. The hangers are assembled by31 or 41 steel galvanized strands, with 15.7mm of diameter, anchor on two blocks connected on the deck to arch. Thedesigned considered for a resistance the hanger the samecriteria used on the cable-stayed bridge, where the designtensile is limited in 0.45 guaranteed ultimate tensile strength(GUTS) for avoid fatigue damage.JK Bridge is a link to two urban areas in Brasilia City, whereit’s necessary to evaluate human comfort of the people whocrosses the bridge. Due to the structural design complexity, the JK Bridge was also fitted with over 150 sensors in thecables and arches in order to monitor the accelerations, deflections and stresses both during construction and oncethe bridge is in service. In fitting these sensors to the bridgethe designers have eliminated some of the need for closeinspection. This way JK Bridge was monitored during threeyears after its inauguration. In 2011 an accident occurred onthe support of the metallic deck made monitoringrecommence.en-US
