The present article refers to the history of the chilean urban development right leaving from the universal antecedents and emphasizing its influences and direct precedents as the instructions of the spanish crown were it and the law of the comuna autonomous of 1891. At the same time, also stops in the national urban development system it created from the law 4563 of the year 1929. Subsequently the legal system is analyzed current it established by the DS 458, also know as general law of town planing and constructions.El presente artículo se refiere a la historia del derecho urbanístico chileno, partiendo de los antecedentes universales y destacando sus influencias y precedentes directos, como lo fueron las instrucciones de la Corona española y la Ley de la Comuna Autónoma de 1891. A su vez, también se detiene en el sistema urbanístico nacional creado a partir de la Ley 4563 del año 1929. Posteriormente se analiza el sistema jurídico actual establecido por el DS 458, también conocido como Ley General de Urbanismo y Construcciones.
