The power of article 9 of law No. 18.918, Constitutional Organization of National Congress, has been understood and used by deputies and senators to request background escaping the sense that you have that rule. For this reason, the paper analyzes what the purpose of the request for records by the National Congress, its difference from the oversight function of the House of Representatives, and finally, if possible, review the use of this standard as an example misuse of power or purpose.La facultad del artículo 9° de la ley N° 18.918, orgánica constitucional del Congreso Nacional, ha sido entendido y utilizada por diputados y senadores para la solicitud de antecedentes que escapan del sentido que tiene dicha norma. Por esta razón, el trabajo busca analizar cuál es el objetivo de la solicitud de antecedentes por parte del Congreso Nacional, su diferencia con la función fiscalizadora de la Cámara de Diputados, y finalmente, si es posible revisar el uso de esta norma como un ejemplo de desviación de poder o de fin.
