| dc.description | Resumen. El segmento sur de la Zona de Falla Atacama es un accidente de fractura de desgarre mayor, el que se ha manifestado periodicamente desde el Cretacico Inferior en diferentes eventos tectonicos. Las estructuras que componen el sistema de pliegues y fallas en el tramo estudiado se enmarcan en una tectonica transpresiva, con movimiento dominante sinistral a lo largo del lineamiento de la Zona de Falla Atacama. Los analisis cinematico y de esfuerzo-deformacion de las megafallas Los Colorados y La Sosita-Huanteme, las cuales son representativas del segmento sur de la Zona de Falla Atacama, sugieren una dinamica de fallamiento asociada a la evolucion del margen Pacifico de Sudamerica. Ambas megafallas son el resultado de un cizallamiento regional, convergente, primario, segun una direccion N20°E, relacionado con esfuerzos horizontales del cuadrangulo NW. Abstract. The southern segment of the Atacama Fault Zone is the result of a major wrench fault system which has been periodically activated, since the Late Cretaceous, by different tectonic events. In the region under study, the structures forming part of the lold-Iault system belong to a transpressive tectonic regime, dominated by a left-Iateral movement along the Atacama Fault Zone. Kinematic and stress-strain analyses of the Los Colorados and La Sosita-Huanteme megafaults, which are representative of the southern segment of the Atacama Fault Zone, suggest a fault dynamics associated with the evolution of the Southamerican Pacific margino 80th megafaults are the result of a N20°E primary convergent regional shearing, related to horizontal stresses of the NW quadrangle. | es-ES |
