dc.descriptionThe article analyzes the speech of the Zig-Zag magazine in relation to the city of Arica, as a collaborator in a propaganda policy of Chileanization, in the context in which Peru and Chile must prepare for the Treaty that will resolve the geopolitical and sovereignty conflict over the cities of Tacna and Arica. From this perspective, the research question is: How do the reproduction and dissemination of the Zig-Zag’s photographs collaborate, and what lies behind the news regarding the city of Arica between 1910 and 1930 in the construction of the Chileanizing discourse? From this city? In this line the news and photographic images of the Zig-Zag magazine referring to the city of Arica, referred to a systematic violence towards the Peruvian population of the area, focused on the invisibility of the original inhabitants and the negative and derogatory language towards the Peruvians. Granting an exorbitant relevance: to the actions of the Chilean State in the area, to the objectivity and rationality of its political authorities to resolve the conflict with Peru, and to repeatedly expose the Chilean army as the greatest military force prepared in Latin America. For this purpose, the conceptualization of Chileanization as a state policy and the participation of private agents of civil society is analyzed, particularly the subject of this study, the Zig-Zag magazine, within the media of the country’s cultural industry at the beginning of the Twentieth Century. Mainly, how it articulates its textual discourse centered on derogatory and offensive social representations towards the Peruvian population of the area fused with a reinforced chileanizer visual discourse of patriotism and militarism.en-US
dc.descriptionEl artículo analiza el discurso de la revista Zig-Zag en relación con la ciudad de Arica, como colaboradora en una política propagandista de chilenización, en el contexto en que Perú y Chile deben prepararse para el Tratado que resolverá el conflicto geopolítico y de soberanía sobre las ciudades de Tacna y Arica. Desde esta perspectiva, la pregunta de investigación es: ¿Cómo colaboran la reproducción y la difusión de las fotografías de la revista Zig-Zag, y qué subyace en las noticias referente a la ciudad de Arica entre 1910 y 1930 en la construcción del discurso chilenizador de esta ciudad? En esta línea, las noticias y las imágenes fotográficas de la revista Zig-Zag referentes a la ciudad de Arica aludieron a una sistemática violencia hacia la población peruana de la zona, enfocada en la invisibilización de los habitantes originarios y en el lenguaje despectivo y negativo hacia los peruanos, otorgando una relevancia exorbitante: a las acciones del Estado chileno en la zona, a la objetividad y racionalidad de sus autoridades políticas para resolver el conflicto con Perú, y exponer repetitivamente al ejército chileno como la mayor fuerza militar preparada de Latinoamérica. Para tal efecto se analiza la conceptualización de chilenización como política estatal y la participación de agentes privados de la sociedad civil, en particular el objeto de este estudio, la revista Zig-Zag, dentro de los medios comunicacionales de la industria cultural del país a inicios del siglo veinte. Principalmente, cómo articula su discurso textual centrado en representaciones sociales despectivas y ofensivas hacia la población peruana de la zona fusionado con un discurso visual chilenizador reforzado de patriotismo y militarismo.es-ES
