If we analyze those 'phylogenetic definitions' of taxa to which alludes the relational neo-essentialism that today is often opposed to taxonomic individualism, we will see that they function as designations of individual entities. On the other hand, if we scrutinize more closely what it is that so called 'relational essence' which would be given by the individual common origin of each taxon, we will see that would be better understanding it as the individualizing principle, or haecceitas, of a particular entity rather than as the defining essence, or quiditas, of a natural class. This is not a too much crucial argument in favor of taxonomic individualism; but it may show that relational neo-essentialism does not bring anything too significant to the discussion concerning the ontological status of taxa. | en-US |
| dc.description | Si se analizan esas ‘definiciones filogenéticas’ de los taxones a las que alude el neo-esencialismo relacional que hoy suele contraponérsele al individualismo taxonómico, veremos que ellas funcionan como designaciones de entidades individuales. Por otra parte, si se examina más de cerca qué es lo que sería esa supuesta ‘esencia relacional’, que vendría dada por el origen común privativo de cada taxón, veremos que ella sería mejor entendida como el principio individualizador, o haecceitas, de una entidad particular, antes que como la esencia definitoria, o quiditas, de una clase natural. Eso no constituye un argumento demasiado decisivo en favor del individualismo taxonómico; pero sí puede servir para mostrar que el neo-esencialismo relacional no trae nada de demasiado significativo para la discusión sobre el estatuto ontológico de los taxones. | es-ES |
