| dc.description | El año 2015 se cumplieron cien años del tren ramal Talca-Constitución, situación que le valió el reconocimiento de Monumento Histórico. Este es el único ramal en actividad regular en Chile, subvencionado por el Estado, debido al importante rol social que presta como facilitador de la vida a personas y localidades que, de otra manera, quedarían en la más absoluta inconexión. En este estudio abordamos las declaradas motivaciones que impulsaron su construcción, las empresas involucradas y los problemas inherentes derivados de su ejecución, con la intención de dilucidar la efectiva motivación de construir una obra de esta envergadura justo en el momento en que el puerto fluvial perdía su condición de mayor, y estimar la cuantía de la real inversión que ella demandó al erario nacional.
ABSTRACT
In 2015, the Talca-Constitucion train branch line turned a hundred years, which allowed it to become a well-known Historical National Monument. This is the only train branch line with regular activity in Chile, which is subsidized by the Chilean state due to the important social role that it plays as a facilitator for locals and rural communities. Otherwise, they will be left out with no transportation. This study aims at describing the reasons for building it, the enterprises involved and the consequent issues. The rationale lays on finding out the reasons for building such a magnificent piece of work since it was built when the river port had lost its relevance. It also aims at estimating how much money the National Treasury Department invested on its construction. | es-ES |
