| dc.description | In several Latin American countries, students who graduate from high school take selective examinations to access higher education. At that point, the students opt for a technical or professional degree, depending on their interests and abilities (among other variables). In this context, the present study aims to analyze the psychometric properties of a recently (2012-1013) designed Vocational Interest Projections Inventory (IPV, from now on) applied to 72 students, in the final year of secondary school at an educational institution in the Maule Region, Chile. Factor analysis showed 18 factors and a transversal transversal dimension. A reliability of 0.90 was obtained by internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha). It is concluded that the instrument is valid and reliable and can be used to identify areas of vocational interest projection in this age group. It is also recommended the application of the inventory with conjunction of other strategies that include an external point of view, beyond the students´ perceptions about their preferences in choosing a degree. | en-US |
| dc.description | En varios países de América Latina, los estudiantes que egresan de la educación secundaria rinden pruebas de selección para el ingreso a la educación superior. En ese momento, los jóvenes proceden a optar por una carrera profesional o técnica, en función de sus intereses y capacidades (entre otras variables). De acuerdo a este contexto, el estudio presente tiene por objetivo analizar las propiedades sicométricas de un Inventario de intereses para la identificación de Áreas de Proyección Vocacional (en adelante IPV), recientemente estructurado (2012-2013). El estudio se efectuó en 72 estudiantes del último curso de educación secundaria de un centro educativo de la factorial arrojó 18 factores y una dimensión transversal. Se obtuvo una fiabilidad por consistencia interna (alpha de Cronbach) de 0.90. Se concluye que el instrumento es válido y confiable y que puede utilizarse para identificar áreas de proyección de intereses vocacionales en este grupo etario. Asimismo, resulta recomendable que el inventario se aplique de forma conjunta con otro tipo de estrategias que contemplen un punto de vista externo al de las percepciones de los estudiantes sobre sus preferencias. | es-ES |
