| dc.description | This article has been developed in the context of the research “Study: Youth, Culture and Religion” led by Universidad Católica de Chile and the cooperation of some other Chilean catholic universities. This work is a partial product obtained by collecting data on Universidad Católica del Maule (UCM)
students, by means of an opinion survey applied to 18 different freshmen entering the university in 2008. Sample survey involves examining 833 students. The aim of this study is to generate a characterization of these students, according to their area of university training. Methodologically, this research has a quantitative, descriptive, transectional and non-experimental design. The method for collecting data was the percentage analysis. The main findings of this study indicate that the most important reasons to choose a degree program are the liking of that, the skills they have and the interest in helping others. Students think highly of UCM, due to its professional and holistic training, as well as its academic reputation; whereas theological courses are seen as general culture background. | en-US |
| dc.description | En el contexto de la investigación “Estudio: Jóvenes, Cultura y Religión”, liderada por la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile y de la que forman parte otras universidades católicas del país, se inscribe el presente artículo, que es un producto parcial a partir de los datos que se han recogido en
la Universidad Católica del Maule (UCM), por medio de una encuesta de opinión validada, aplicada a una población correspondiente a 1090 estudiantes de 18 carreras del ingreso 2008. La muestra fue de 833 estudiantes. El objetivo es generar una caracterización de estos estudiantes, en razón del área de formación universitaria. Este estudio obedece a un diseño cuantitativo, descriptivo, transeccional y no experimental. El estadístico utilizado fue el análisis porcentual. Las conclusiones principales indican que las razones más importantes para la elección de carrera son el gusto por ésta, la habilidad que se posee y ayudar a otros; se reconoce a la UCM por la formación profesional, el prestigio y la formación integral; en tanto los cursos teológicos son vistos como cultura general. | es-ES |
