La creación de la Escuela Práctica de Agricultura de Chillán dio un impulso a la agricultura regional, pues no existía otra institución de enseñanza agrícola en la región. De esta forma, se pretende destacar una actividad basada en el campo chillanejo, en una zona que reunía los requisitos para este tipo de Escuela agrícola. Desde fines del siglo XIX hasta la década de 1930, funcionó formando los mandos medios que se requerían para dirigir las labores agrícolas. Así, la agricultura chillaneja conoció los modernos avances que esta actividad estaba experimen-tando a nivel internacional. Fueron profesores extranjeros, al comienzo, y después profesores nacionales que se formaron en el Instituto Agrícola de Santiago, los que enseñaron las nuevas formas de cultivo de los diferentes productos que se elaboraron en los fundos de la zona. Esta escuela, desde el punto de vista de la mantención económica como la formación de los nuevos trabajadores agrícolas, fue un ejemplo no solo regional, sino que nacional. En adelante, se fueron incorporando formas de producción en base a las nuevas técnicas y métodos que se estaban aplicando en Europa.The creation of the Practical School of Agriculture of Chillán gave a boost to regional agriculture, since there was no other institution of agricultural education in the region. In this way, it is intended to highlight an activity based on the Chillán field, in an area that met the requirements for this type of agricultural school. From the late nineteenth century to the 1930s, it worked by forming the middle managers that were required to direct agricultural work. Thus, Chillán agriculture learned about the modern advances that this activity was experiencing at an international level. There were foreign professors, at the beginning, and later national professors who were trained in the Agricultural Institute of Santiago, who taught the new forms of cultivation of the different products that were elaborated in the farms of the area. This school, from the point of view of economic maintenance as the training of new agricultural workers, was an example not only regional but national. Afterwards, production forms were incorporated based on the new techniques and methods that were being applied in Europe.
