El mar argentino es una de las zonas económicas exclusivas más importantes del mundo, siendo esta rica en recursos naturales tanto en el lecho, el subsuelo y en sus aguas. Esta zona marítima aparece como estratégica para el Estado argentino, tanto económica como políticamente, sobre todo porque la extensión de la soberanía aceptado por la Organización de Naciones Unidas [ONU] en toda la plataforma continental da la posibilidad de la apropiación de su máxima extensión. En este artículo se analiza las características de la actividad pesquera presente en la Argentina, su organización, las zonas afectadas por esta, así como las políticas que guían su desarrollo especialmente desde la crisis de 2001 en un contexto económico neoliberal y en el discurso de la sostenibilidad. La propuesta metodología se basa en el análisis estadístico, bibliográfico y normativo de la misma. A lo largo del artículo, con un enfoque geográfico, se pondrá en discusión la actividad pesquera está orientada a una gestión de los recursos naturales que ha descuidado la sostenibilidad social, económica y territorial.The Argentine Sea is one of the most important exclusive economic zones of the world, being rich in natural resources in the bed, the subsoil and in its waters. This maritime zone appears as strategic for the Argentine State, both economic and politically, especially because the extension of the sovereignty accepted by the United Nations [UN] throughout the continental shelf gives the possibility of the appropriation of its maximum extension. This article analyzes the characteristics of the fishing activity present in Argentina, its organization, the areas affected by it, as well as the policies that guide its development especially since the 2001 crisis in a neoliberal economic context and in the discourse of the Sustainability. The proposed methodology is based on the statistical, bibliographic and normative analysis of the same. Throughout the article, with a geographical focus, will be discussed the fishing activity is oriented to a management of natural resources that has neglected social, economic and territorial sustainability.
