The article begins by making reference to daily life crisis situations we experience and seeks to explain them by means of three possibilities: changes in the asymmetry of being able; the loss of importance of the institutions that provided long term visions; and the incapacity of our civilization to accept diversity and difference. The paper then discusses the importance of diversity denouncing the western blindness with respect to diversity and its homogeneity oriented practices. It points out the paradox behind diversity being a part of our routine and yet being denied and fought against by our educational, scientific and productive practices.  The article ends by raising awareness about the need to move forward another type of civilization and education where diversity may be recognized. Keywords: Diversity, education, homogeneization, values, endosomatic evolution.El artículo se inicia haciendo referencia a situaciones de crisis que experimentamos como parte de nuestra vida cotidiana y busca dar explicaciones a ellas. Señala tres explicaciones: cambios en la asimetría de poder; desperfilamiento de las instituciones que proveían visiones de largo plazo; y la incapacidad de nuestra civilización para aceptar la diversidad y diferencia. Argumenta a continuación sobre la importancia de la diversidad, denunciando la ceguera occidental respecto a la diversidad y el carácter homogeneizante de sus prácticas. Señala la paradoja de que la diversidad se ha hecho parte de nuestra cotidianeidad aunque nuestras prácticas educativas, científicas y productivas la niegan y la combaten. Termina planteando la necesidad de avanzar hacia otro tipo de civilización y otro tipo de educación donde la diversidad sea reconocida.  Palabras clave: Diversidad, educación, homogeneización, valores, evolución endosomática.
