The main objective of this piece is to analyze the cinematographic work produced in the 1980s by the Chilean director Cristián Sánchez. To achieve this, first, we will try to insert the filmmaker’s cinema under the category of modern cinema, linking it, in addition, with a reflexive and critical process that seeks to think - from the cinema as elaborate discourse - the world that was contemporary to him. To do this, we will pay attention to the configuration of an image linked to the slowdown of cinematographic time as a critical proposal that, while reflecting on the cinematographic image, also does it about historical time and the mismatch caused by the implantation of neoliberalism in the daily life of the characters he proposes.El texto tiene como principal objetivo, realizar un análisis de la obra cinematográfica producida en la década de 1980 por el director chileno Cristián Sánchez. Para lograrlo, primeramente, se intentará insertar el cine del realizador bajo la categoría de cine moderno vinculándolo, además, con un proceso reflexivo y crítico que busque pensar -desde el cine como discurso elaborado- el mundo que le fue contemporáneo. Para ello, prestaremos atención a la configuración de una imagen ligada a la ralentización del tiempo cinematográfico como propuesta crítica que, a la vez que reflexiona sobre la imagen cinematográfica, también lo hace acerca del tiempo histórico y el desajuste que provoca la implantación del neoliberalismo en la vida cotidiana de los personajes que propone.
