| dc.description | El presente artículo discute algunas ideas acerca de la autoproducción del habitat, en la que se destacan como experiencia histórica en la ciudad de Iquique, la toma de terrenos y el trazado urbano como práctica espontánea. Termina el trabajo señalando la necesidad de prestar atención a criterios técnicos para una adecuada planificación del habitat. Cita el caso de Alto Hospicio como ejemplo de autoproducción del habitat, en la que la vivienda progresiva pasa a ser el eje de un crecimiento poblacional ordenado.

This article discusses some ideas about setting self production. Among these ideas as part of the historical experience of the city of Iquique, land occupation and urban lay out are the mostoutstanding ones.
