| dc.description | Este artículo analiza la importancia de los símbolos patrióticos en la chilenización de Tarapacá, particularmente la simbología usada por las Ligas Patrióticas y la escuela fiscal en la pampa salitrera.
El autor explora los contenidos de violencia que esos símbolos contienen y sus consecuentes efectos discriminatorios, especialmente hacia los tarapaqueños de origen peruano. Esta simbología ha generado de parte tanto del Estado como de la propia sociedad civil chilena (Ej: obreros del salitre), represión, violencia y discriminación hacia grupos regionales específicos.
El autor pone particular atención a la simbología patriótica en el curriculum escolar, tanto dentro como fuera del aula, a modo de curriculum oculto, y analiza sus efectos en el cambio cultural de la población regional.

This article analyses the importance of patriotic symbols in the chilenization of Tarapacá, particulary, the symbology used in the government-owned school and Ligas Patrióticas in the nitrate field.
The author explores the contents of violence that such symbols contain and the subsequent discriminatory effects, especially for the people of Peruvian origin; Since the symbology has been part of the state, as well as the chilean civil societys (ej: nitrate workers) repression, violence and discrimination towards specifics regional groups.
The author pays particular attention to patriotic, symbology in the schools curriculum both inside and outside the classroom in the form a hidden curriculum and analuses their effects on the cultural change of regional population.
