| dc.description | La conversión religiosa -del catolicismo al pentecostalismo- está marcada por un fuerte componente emotivo. Se deja un estilo de vida y se adquiere otro. El modo como las ciencias sociales han visto este fenómeno, por lo general, desde una óptica racional lo reduce a categorías temporales como el antes o el después, descuidando la centralidad del fenómeno. Este artículo discute ese problema a la luz de las nuevas corrientes del análisis cultural.

The religious conversion from Catholicism to Pentecostism is marked by a strong emotional component. A life style is left and another one is acquired. In general, social sciences have looked at this phenomenom from a rational approach, reducing it to time-categories such as “before” or “after” and, thus, disregard the centrality of the phenomenon. This article discusses this problem by means of the new currents of cultural analysis.
