| dc.description | La progresiva modernización que ha sufrido el espacio rural de la provincia de Iquique ha transformado radicalmente sus relaciones internas y externas. Desde la década del 80 se ha sumado a dicha dinámica la presencia del capital minero transnacional, que por su carácter ha significado un impulso inicial importante, pero efímero e involutivo a nivel de las comunidades locales.

The progressive modernization undergone by the rural communities of Iquique has radically transformed their internal and external relationships. Since the 80’s, the presence of transnational mining capital has meant an important initial impulse, but ephemeral and receding at the level of local communities.
